"American Symphony" lidera com 6 indicações o Critics Choice Documentary Awards 2023, que conta com a nova categoria de Melhor Documentário True Crime!

Temos nossa primeira premiação e, junto com ela, a temporada se inicia para os documentários! Critics Choice Awards é uma premiação bem conhecida e já faz parte do nosso calendário anual. Mas, desde 6 anos atrás, começaram também a premiação especial para documentários!

Logo na primeira edição já acertaram a sincronia com o Oscar, dando 3 prêmios para o filme "O.J.: Made in America"!

No ano passado, quatro dos indicados ao Oscar foram indicados aqui como Melhor Documentário, ou em alguma das outras categorias principais. E o vencedor do Oscar, "Navalyn", venceu o Critics de Melhor Documentário Político e foi indicado a mais três prêmios. Ou seja, existe bastante chance de o vencedor do Oscar 2024 de Melhor Documentário estar entre os indicados de hoje!

Esses acertos comparados com a Academia e com diversas das outras premiações que vieram depois, nos fizeram decidir prestar atenção definitiva na premiação e, a partir de hoje, o Termômetro Oscar 2024 de Melhor Documentário está começando!

O líder de indicações desse ano é o filme "American Symphony" com 6 indicações. Do diretor indicado ao Oscar, Matthew Heineman, o filme é o retrato comovente do músico Jon Batiste enquanto ele experimenta seu maior sucesso profissional (ele dominou o Grammy de 2022) ao mesmo tempo em que sua esposa enfrenta seu maior desafio pessoal (Suleika Jaouad está lutando contra a leucemia).

Entre os destaques, a premiação abriu a categoria de Melhor Documentário True Crime, um gênero que se populariza cada vez mais!

Já, entre os indicados, alguns nomes já conhecidos como "Occupied City" de Steve McQueen, o filme sobre o ator Michael J. Fox, e o documentário da cantora Taylor Swift.
